Out of TimeDenzel Washington vs. the Clock (and Everyone Else)

Out of Time poster

My rating7/10

Denzel Washington makes even a modest early-2000s thriller feel sturdier than it probably is, and Out of Time is no exception. The plot runs on familiar rails-small-town cop, bad decisions, ticking clock-but the execution keeps it moving. What surprised me most were the fight scenes: lean, physical, and meaner than expected. When Washington's character drags Dean Cain's Chris Harrison through the glass, it lands with a blunt-force shock that feels straight out of Mortal Kombat-quick, brutal, and memorable.

The love triangle actually works here, adding pressure without bogging the story down, and Washington remains effortlessly engaging, selling both the charm and the mounting desperation. Out of Time isn't a reinvention of the genre, but it's a tight, entertaining reminder of how far a committed lead and smart pacing can carry a thriller.
